Application of Geostationary Satellites in Forest Fire Detection: A Multi-temporal Threshold Algorithm
Remote sensing has been widely used in active forest fire detection; however there are some limitations in the operational contextual algorithms. These algorithms are greatly affected by clouds and different land cover types such as land and water with inherent temperatures. This book, therefore, provides a new multi-temporal threshold algorithm for near real-time forest fire detection using geostationary satellites, supplemental to the existing algorithms. This algorithm is based on temperature in IR3.9 channel and the difference between IR3.9 and IR10.8 channels. The multi-temporal threshold algorithm proved to have higher fire detection rate (50%) as compared to MSG FIR-G (3.7%) when ground data from Portugal was used for validation. This superiority was also confirmed over Southern Africa when MODIS fire product was used for validation. This analysis shows the possibility of manipulating the temporal domain of geostationary satellites in monitoring highly temporal environmental phenomenon.

What do you think of my new theorem regarding the classification of weapons?
I came up with an idea of splitting weapons into two categories, exponential and linear. The following contains an explanation and examples of my theory, I am currently working on an algorithm to determine the "destructive value" of a weapon. Please do not copy without my permission.

A weapon can be categorized into two categories. Exponential and Linear. Exponential weapons would continue to grow until their viable energy source runs out, and linear weapons will only create the damage equivalent to the amount of energy stored inside of them. Exponential weapons can be further categorized by what their viable energy source is, and when it will run out. Linear weapons are categorized by the amount of energy stored in them and their mass-energy efficiency.
Exponential
Fire- will continue to consume and will grow at an exponential rate.
Energy source: Fuel and oxygen
Exponential growth halted by: lack of oxygen, lack of viable fuel source.
Fire is an exponential weapon because it is a chain reaction. The total
amount of destruction caused by fire can be greater than the amount of
energy stored in the initiator of the weapon.

While it shows that you put a lot of thought into the idea I would have to disagree with your classification. All weapons are a function of the addition of energy up to its limits. Even a simple spear will increase its capacity for damage as energy is applied to its trajectory. Add enough energy and you get a plasma spear. Nuclear reactions are also dependent on the amount of radioactive material used. Maybe a more useful division would be average joules used per application of a weapon. Maybe even potential for damage per minute a weapon can do against a static/dynamic test object. Of course when trying to class weapons it really becomes a comparative analysis of what you are using your weapon against. After all how would you rate psychological weapons, e.g.: demoralizing text, falsified media broadcasts, loud music, etc.

Yeah, I would need an explanation in a..how to put this, in a non-smart way? -sighs- I'm not very good with a computer and I would need a step by step kind of thing. Please dont leave anything out. I tend to freak out with every little thing. I suck at this stuff. I load my fire magic like WAY TOO slow and I get seriously pissed when I end up dead fighting a boss.
